Robot Wars

Robot Wars is a robotic combat game show that has had multiple versions across the world. The most famous and successful version is the UK version which took place between 1997 – 2004.

Classic Show

The classic TV show ran a new series on UK screens from 1997 – 2004 with BBC 2 hosting all but, 1 series which Channel 5 aired at the end of its tenure. There were seven main series where, the main competition was to be UK champion with 2 side series called Robot Wars Extreme. The World Championship was also, hosted on the show with different nations creating their own versions with a Dutch and US versions most widely known. Craig Charles presented all of the series other than the first series here Jeremy Clarkson was at the helm and Jonathan Pearce was always the loud mouth commentator wanting more mayhem. The house robots had a huge impact on the series with 10 house robots in total being a part of the show.



The Live Tour Era

When the TV show originally ended (check out the Why Robot Wars failed series) the fighting was all but over. The robots slowly got stronger and with that, the tours became more popular and Robot Wars was happening, up and down the country and still does to this day. The house robots have been limited to 2 robots with Matilda only fighting lower weight categories and new House Robot Major damage fighting with the heavyweights. The TV Return

On the 14th January 2016, the show was announced for a TV return to BBC 2. Dara O Briain and Angela Scanlon have been announced as the presenters of the new TV series with Jonathan Pearce as returning commentator.
